Make sure that the galvanize coating is in good condition. If not, you can
recoat or touch up with cold galvanizing spray, available at many hardware/home
stores and industrial suppliers. The stuff you are looking for is 95% zinc. It
is amazing. Even if there are bare spots of metal, the adjacent zinc coating
will still protect it.
