For years most of the cheaper drysuits, along with not a few expensive ones, have rear-entry zippers that run across the back of the shoulder. I was looking at wetsuits the other day, and got wondering whether, considering how common zipper problems are, this isn't lunacy, especially with a metal backplate, since the backplate and straps will be frequently bearing directly on the zipper. On the other hand, if it was a known problem, it would be easy enough to throw a little velcroed flap over the zipper, and, since no one seems to do it, maybe it isn't a problem. Any thoughts on this? are rear zippers more prone to trouble, or doesn't it matter? -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
