eh? But you quoted my above example yourself!

Commando, 12l steel with Omega II main reg (side exhaust), 3l pony with
Apeks reg (front exhaust, no confusion), Polar Bear membrane suit.
Diving up to 40/50m on air or nitrox as appropriate, Buhlmann tables, no
deep overhead environments on this kit.

Firstly, I dive no-stop or short stops in the north seas due to limited
slack water times - therefore I do a whole dive on my 12l with plenty of
reserve, even filling a few lifting bags, and never touch my pony. I
dont need the weight of twin 10's, & could consider the manifolding
joints to be 4 extra failure points and the isolator a 5th.

The pony is enough gas to reach the surface and do deco from 40m. I can
detatch the pony & hand it to someone in extreme circumstances, or if
the Hog'ers send an assasin to trap me in a silty wreck & drain my 12l I
can ditch main kit and take the pony only, which a Hog'er couldnt do.

I carry line cutters. I guess the WKPP dont encounter much monofilament,
but they still swear that one small knife is the only way to dive.

My rig comes off with 4 buckles beside the RIB and can be lifted away so
I only have my own bodyweight to haul into the boat. It takes serious
wriggling to escape a Hog rig with no buckles in a flowing tide -
possible, but best practise?

Etc. Some are small points maybe, but valid. So lets drop this "Hog kit
is the last word for all" bluster and accept that Hog is damn fine for
90% of tasks but sometimes other kit works better - even the most ardent
Hog'er cant easily cut 200lb monofilament with his small knife, but my
line cutter shears will.

regards .. Phil
