Steve Stewart 02/18/98 08:27 AM Try Lloyd Baileys: http://www.gnv.com/LB/catalog.htm they have a Backplate , Harness, Dive-Rite wings, and tank bands setup for about $360 >SNIP > I looked on the Brownies page and got > >really confused. I remember an email months back discussing it. > My price list says $230 for the SS backplate and harness, and $300 for the wings. For comparison, you can get a SS backplate elsewhere for $80 (no name) to $120 (OMS), put a harness together for about $25 following the instructions on Jeff's page (and it really is a snap; nothing to be afraid of), and find Diverite orginal wings for a bit under $200. That works out to $300 vs $520. The other thing is, the Halcyon hasn't really been out long enough to have established any sort of track record - there have been hardly any reports here from anyone using them. It's worth noting with some regret that a trend seems to be starting - standard advice on this list to everyone asking what "tech BC" to buy has always been "forget the BC - if you buy wings and a plate, you can have the best rig, AND save a bunch of money". Now, though, that wings and plates are getting mainstream, the price seems to be edging up, until the price of the more expensive wings and plates equals that of a top-of-the-line-BC.
