Most dive operations keep a log of divers names, when they went into the water,
when they came back, what their bottom time was etc, then require the diver to
sign the entry when they get their tank off. Before the boat goes this log is
checked, and if a signature is missing then they go looking.

Obviously this operator just did a head count, probably including the cat and
the parrot, and screwed up. Not noticing for 2 days just adds insult to injury. 

Did not hear about the crocs, they generally are only close to the coast or in
rivers. As far as I know the bodies were never found, although they found 2
weigth belts.
