Sunday, February 8th, six of us went up to the quarry in Racine, Wisconsin to dive. Since it has been rather warm here (upper 30's) we were not sure what the ice conditions would be like. We took all of our ice diving equipment along. We found that there was still 4 to 6 inches of ice. Six divers in all made the plunge - two at a time. Five in dry suits; one in a wetsuit. The conditions were ideal. Air temperature was about 38 deg. F and the water was 34 degrees. The sky was overcast but, with no wind, it was comefortable on the surface. Visability was about 20 to 25 feet. The weather service is predicting more highs in the upper 30's to low 40's this comming week, along with the probability of rain. There may not be any ice by next weekend. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'.
