The "Prins Willem V" was visited Sunday Feb. 1st 1998 by 12 dry suited divers. They dove in 33*F water and 20 feet of vis. to swim around Milwaukee's most famous ship wreck. The 3 to 5 foot waves made for an exciting boat ride on the way back in. Little ice was seen in the river and no ice on the open lake- what a winter. A second dive was made by the crew members and myself to the "Sumatra" to try and get some pictures of this forgotten wreck. Sunk in 1896 with loss of several crew member this schooner barge lays under Milwaukee's breakwall in 30' of water. Anyone with pictures or other information about the Sumatra is asked to write or e-mail. Thanks. Jer -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
