Subject: Re: 72s as doubles
Most of the 72's out there are old, old tanks. Most of the ones I've seen
are used strictly as O2 deco bottles. I have a few that I wouldn't fill to
anywhere near the pressure I routinely dump into my 104's. But they're fine
for the 2000-2400psi O2 fills.

If I were going to rig a set of 72 as doubles, I'd want new tanks. For the
kind of diving you'd use doubles for, wouldn't you want the peace of mind of
knowing the tanks' history? New, these things are prohibitively expensive,
if you can find them at all. A set of 80's can be had for a little over 200
bucks + the cost of the manifold. Add a few pounds of lead to your belt, and
you're right where you need to be, with no worries.

Drew
