Alex If you happen to be around Bracknell or Weybridge you are welcome to have a look at my DR Original wing - drop me a private email. I bought this wing and a few other bits from: Lloyd Bailey's SCUBA Inc. 3500-F NW 97th Blvd Gainesville Florida 32606 USA Work +1 (352) 332 0738 Fax +1 (352) 332 6608 email afn44679@af*.or* who were helpful and prompt. The wieght belt retainers I bought from them were cheap and this was reflected in their quality. Want some bendy weight belt retrainers? In another mail you indicated that you were buying SS backplate and harness from the USA. You can buy the backplate in the UK from: IPI Marine Unit 8 St George's Business Centre St George's Square Old Portsmouth UK Work 01705 892900 OMS Dive Equipment Importer The cost was around 90 UKP and about 6 UKP for shipping. I still have 60m left of the 100m of extremely rugged webbing that I bought when making up my harness, so you can buy this from me at the same price you get the cheap stuff from dive shops. You can also use this fine webbing to make a sheath for your belt knife (Oceanic sell a nice one that is serrated on one side only - cost about UKP 10 - the hilt needs filing down a bit to fit to 2" webbing but works great.) You can get SS Weight belt clips, D-rings and good SS quality weight retainers from: Runnymede Dive Unit 11, Eversley Way Thorpe Industrial Estate Egham Surrey TW20 8RG UK Work 01784 436909 Note the best weight retainers I've seen are the thick serrated ones that they sell that are stamped with something crass such as "towards body" on the inside. They are expensive but do not bend. I also bought all my Apeks regs from Runnymede and Bob and Steve did me a very good price - they are an excellent shop. I used thinner 2" webbing for the crotch strap - this allowed me to use standard D-rings for the crotch rings. The crotch strap is looped either end with non-serrated weight retainers (has a bigger gap than serrated). The reason for the thinner crotch strap and retainers is to allow a double thickness of webbing to go through the weight belt retainer. Thus the 2 weight belt retainers not only for the loop connection to the backplate and waist strap, they also hold the butt and scooter D-ring in place. Drop me a line if you need more info or want to relieve me of some of my webbing. Okay... so I know this could be dragging up a load of 'Wing debate' responses! Please note this is NOT a bondage related question!!! I'm about to buy a new wing a was really interested to know the differences between the Dive Rite Original/Classic, Halcyon 50lbs & the Sea Tec. Living over in the UK, its hard to pop out to my nearset store and see the different examples. Of particular interest would be: Build of the material - strength/durability/seams. Protection of the inner bag. Fast dumps - where on wing & number of. Does the corrogated hose act as a fast dump when pulled - yuk! Any inherent problems that need attention - ie elbow of corrogated hose popping off where it joins the wing. What you could expect to pay. Anything else that is a must about that particular wing!!
