Al, if you are doing a dive where there is a likelihood there will a problem getting seen by the boat, then this stuff is *necessary*, right? So take it along. But to carry it on all on every single stinking dive, even on a broad daylight, no current piece-of-cake dive? I don't think so. This stuff is still in my kit, but I need a darn good reason to tote it along.
