Tim: As a general rule, the divers doing stupid things won't listen. If that student were your brother or son you would wish that someone pointed out that something was incorrect. Instead everyone gets caught up in saying they should have, would have and could have. So now there are three people DEAD. Got it D-E-A-D!!! They are not comming back. The stupidity here is the consistent failure to acurately disclose the truth when these things happen, thereby making it difficult or impossible to reap the only benefit available, knowledge. If we don't learn from this we only amplify the waste of human life. Since keeping things quiet obviously is not working, perhaps we need to use the media to stop the accidents. Putting things in the public eye will force all of us to step back and take a second look at our actions. While I full well realize that you may only be concerned with your own immediate needs and interests, the media generated publicity might prevent another such accident. Most of us would gladly accept the inconvenience of having to adhere to a set of rules re our Helium to return the three lives lost. Perhaps you should rethink your position concerning who or what is FAS since reduced to its simplest terms, a trusting individual paid to get instruction at a dive store, go out on a boat, do a dive and die. This needs to be examined. Joe Citelli Tim Olson wrote: > > > Predictably, we are now beginning to observe the inevitable fallout from > > the single worst technical diving accident, ever.
