I have checked the "Dead list" from the aquanaut archive to the best of
my ability. I may not be searching it correctly. So, if these figures
are incorrect, please tell me the search criteria that you are using so
that I can access the relevant information. I find a listing of 6
deaths that have been attributed to deep air. From this list, one died
in 1985, one died in 1991, and 4 died in 1992. However, these listings
do not answer my question. First, were these individuals TDI certified?
I doubt it. It is my understanding that TDI was not formed until 1994.
(I could be wrong though, for I do not have this information in front of
me. But I am sure that TDI did not exist as a training agency in the
1980's.) Even if I am incorrect in this assertion, it is not stated in
this list whether they were TDI certified. My question stands: Is there
a statistical correlation between scuba diving deaths and TDI
certification? If so, please respond with factual information from a
reputable agency that compiles such figures.
