I am sure I am not on my own when I raise an eyebrow about using a
'student' as a safety diver.

From your message I guess the plan did'nt go too well, or was wrong in
the first place.
My gut feeling is this was preventable, regardless of the comments made
yet folks seem to not want to face up to this kind of thing.
