Rope pull signals are used for divers and tenders to communicate. Ice-diving the way NAUI teaches it involves two divers, each with a tether shackled to a safety harness, tended by a surface tender. A safety diver is suited up ready to go in, with a third rope 1.5 times the length of the other two. He will enter only if one or both diver lines are snagged or broken, so there will be a tender available to tend his line. Anyway, that's why you'll hear ice divers talking about getting the minimum five guys together so they can go ice diving. -- Anthony DeBoer <adb@on*.ca*> -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
