Along these lines, I modified the Hogarthiam setup a bit for all of the
different
diving environments I frequent.
To allow me to use the same setup (BC, wings, etc) for warm water, single tank
dives, cold water double tank dives, or cold water single tank dives, I made
some
small pockets out of sturdy canvas with webbing for reinforcment that slide
onto
the waist strap.
The pockets hold about 6-8 Lb max (depending on the weight (hard or soft))
and are very easy to add or remove. The weight is ditchable and I can also use
the pocket for storage of misc items (no danglies). Especially well suited
for warm water (no
For warm water dives, I either use no weight (steel tank) or 4-6 lbs (depends
on
size of aluminium tank). For night dives (I use a canister light, ala
hogarthian)
I remove the pocket on the light side. The light is 3 lb negative. All of this
is
required as all of my warm water dives are conducted while on travel and I
do not know what kind of cylinder I will be diving. The P-Weight is an
interesting
solution, although I would not want to travel with it, but certainly merits a
good
look into my gear configuration and requirements. The bolt placement (length)
would be important so as not to rub against the cylinder. I use a weight belt
slide (SS) to hold the pocket in place on the waist strap.
For cold water dives with a single, just add more weight to the pocket. Works
very
well, although I need to add a strap clip to hold the pockets in place. I dive
this
way RARELY (usually if using a cylinder that is not mine).
For cold water doubles, V-weight. Pockets are not needed, so my rig is
WKPP style.

David-
Something just occurred to me, those who use single tank adapters with
their backplate might find the P weight a good way to ditch some or all
of their weight belt.
