Subject: The Only Dry Suit is the 350
The one I have does well flooded if it has C-4 Thinsulate under it. The
hefty bag is the non-DUI or non custom fit suits. You saw mine. If you
put all of your insulation on , you are the same buoyancy at every depth
with DUI - with neo you are relying on the neo to keep you warm shallow
because you can not put the heavy stuff on under and still function.
That suit you saw me in is eigth years old, by the way - I just stay
neutral all of the time. The only place we need protection on a wreck is
over the latex seals, and we just use another heavy latex sleeve. The
suit has a double zipper so will not blow out there, and there is a
layer of sacrificial material over the tri-lam. You can also get the
military version which has pads for kneeling and shooting, if you are
planning on filming any James Bond movies, or if you want to go back
into the Navy. You can then get the gun pocket ala the Secret Service
version of the suit, which is used in Florida by the pot-smokers to keep
their stash dry, and by me to hold the magic stone. The copy cat suits
can not have all three of the needed features : self don, tri lam, and
telescoping top. Also, the cheapies anly have a couple of cuts of fabric
- look closely at a DUI - there are mulitple cuts for a better fit. Look
at a video of me diving and tell me there is a probelm with buoyancy
control - these suits give you tricks you can not do wtih neoprene, and
that is part of why we use them. You would be amazed at the funtions
thes suits perform in a complex dive wtih multiple scooters and bottles
- ther are absolutely esssential for that.
