Subject: Re: Dry Suit Diving... dumbfuck ....
Jeremy is right about one thing, being properly weighted. If you are, as you
should be by using the right gear
(and this is the key), the suit is acceptable for emergency bail out. Since
the suit is the redundant inflation
device, you do not need 2 wings. By using 2 wings and a suit, you are
unnecessarily carrying carrying too much
shit. Kind of like some of the idiots who take 3 big reels and a safety reel
for a normal 'tour dive'. If you
don't need it, why take it? Oh wait, I know, because it looks cool.
You have to look at the whole picture on this equipment deal and, if you
don't know, ask someone who does
this stuff for real.
What happens (or so it seems) is that novice divers look at/and emulate
alleged experienced divers. Notice,
I said alleged. A lot of these "experienced divers" have a lot of experience
doing relatively simple dives and
have been able to get away with totally screwed up methods. That's where all
the bullshit comes in; drysuit w/
double wings, extra masks, waist mounted lead pouches, ankle weights, knives on
the leg, 9' hoses, reels/lights
on the tanks, zip ties for everything and everyone, two short hoses, steel on
steel stage rigs, suicide snaps,
hell I could go on forever. So, this novice diver sees this "experienced
person" and figures that he/she knows
the game. Truth is, they don't, not the real game. Now, the story gets bigger
and a significant number of
divers are doing things that are totally unacceptable/unsafe. It's like the
Christmas Tree effect.
Still, there are those who are hell bent on changing this problem and you
have to admire their
determination.
To those who make a difference, Never Quit.
Some of you might understand this one word; Evolution. Some don't, and that's
where we stand----Jason
