There's a subtle difference. We call the "pre-symptomatic-DCI" exhaustion "Slow-tissue Blues". I'm not sure I can adequately describe the difference between that & mere fatigue. STB is more of a sleepy tired, whereas physical fatigue is more of an ache. STB ususally shows up about an hour or two after the last dive and gets progressively stronger, whereas fatigue remains somewhat constant, or even lessens after some restful periods. Also, I feel vaugely hung-over the morning after a STB day. It might seem as though I'm just confusing different levels of fatigue, but over time, when examining dive profiles, levels of exertion, and amounts of sleep prior to the dive, we feel confident that we have teased them apart.
