Hi Everyone, A short while back I posted a question to the effect that a small group of divers in my area are getting hit rather a lot on air and mix dives in the 75-80 metre range. I've had a variety of suggestions as to how we can avoid this happening, but they all seem to be things we are already doing. Such things as, conservative tables, accurate control of ascent rate, hyperoxic decompression gasses, proper rest, hydration before and during dive, no alcohol and constructing tables by telling the software you are breathing more inert gas than you actually are. Still we get hit! Since we seem to be doing everything right, and we are getting bent at a great rate, I'm starting to wonder if this is happening to other groups!!! Is it that during this delicate phase of the development of mixed gas diving no one is prepared to mention that they are getting hurt?? We have been told that two students of one of the greatest divers of our time were hit during a couple of training dives!!! Can the people who are diving, say between 60 and 90 metres [2-300 fsw] using either air or mix, get back to me with: How many dives in range? How many DCI experiences? I'd like replies even if you have done thousands of dives and never been hit. I'll try to tie all this stuff together and report back to the net on the results. Regards Jason :-) gasdive@sy*.di*.oz*.au* P.S. Ask your non-net buddies to contibute. I'm going to be away for a couple of weeks, so I shall start to compile results around end of September.
