Subject: Re: Deep air kills two more
These deep air practitioners really think that they accomplish something to.
I can tell you they don't accomplish shit. Anyone can do these 100m air
dives. Look at Brett and you will see why, he is in terrible physical
condition and still he talks about his superior physiology, 3 heart beats a
minute one breath a minute and duck breathing and all that bullshit. The only
thing you need is no brain and roll a six on the dice. And if they think they
are brave that's not the case either. I have done my share of stupid deep air
diving in the past and i was so impaired that i was unable to feel fear it
just felt better and better the deeper i went. The tuff guys dive Trimix,
then you know what you are up against.
Even at relatively shallow depth like 60m air is not acceptable i think. Some
time ago i thought that it was pretty ok diving air to these depths. I hardly
felt any narcosis, or so i thought. But when you get in to a stressful
situation you cant handle it, then all the narcosis becomes so apparent and
your distance from being just stressed to panic shortens dramatically. The
slightest bit of co2 build up on a deep air dives can have severe
consequences. All this adds up to a cluster fuck in a stress situation. The
issue that people dive air because helium is hard to get hold of or to
expensive in Europe is bullshit. In all the countries i have visited helium
is cheap enough and easy to get hold of to bee a very good alternative to air
and if you cant afford the small amount of extra money you should stay at
50m. George's position in the deep air debate has helped a lot of people to
understand the dangers of doing this stupidity and realize that people like
Brett Gilliam promote a dangerous activity as being safe. Gilliam clearly has
a bad influence on the diving community as many divers look up to him and
thinks he is some kind of tech guru but he is the worst roll model you can
have. I have talked to friends of Rob Palmer and they hold Brett gilliam
responsible for his death due to peer pressure. Rob had stooped deep air
diving until he got aquatinted with Brett then he suddenly started deep air
diving again. Brett Gilliam should not be involved in the diving industry.
How many more people will he indirectly kill???.
