I have, though not enough to have any definative first hand answers. However, I've talked to other divers there, and have put together a rough map. Best I can figure it, there are a series of rooms cut out on one side, leading to a single monster room extending to the north, and maybe 2-3 times the size of the quarry itself, with pillars at intervals holding up the roof. Maximum penetration is supposedly about 1200 feet or so depending on where you go in, though by doubling around you can make it seem like more. Depths are rumored to be to 150 though the most I've seen in 130. There's an airshaft/well off in the woods to the NW that's supposed to be at about the deepest spot. There is another version I have heard, that there are tunnels extending out (as opposed to rooms) and that one has been penetrated 2000' feet with no end in sight. I tend not to believe this, based on what I've see of how they quarried. Tod Smith (a Boston area instructor - never met him, but met someone who had just finished full cave with him, done completely in that quarry) is supposed to do a lot of instructing there, so he's probably a good bet for more info. It's very neat place - good to great viz (by NE not Ginnie standards) 50'+, very wierd and spooky, plus it's always nice to have an exuse to go cruising Vt. backroads. >has any here ever dove the caves in the Vermont quarries? namely True >Blue? if so, how long is the big tunnel? and are there many branches from >it? thanks -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
