Just buy a seven foot hose with a 1/2" fitting or buy a 1/2" plug and a regular 3/8" fitting hose and use another port. If you out breathe a 3/8" port you shouldn't be diving with that much stress. Don't get overly excited about the "DFC" marketing stuff. The abyss first stage put out more air than most regulators on the market. My personal favorite for caving is the VX10 but the Abyss breathes better than most regs, even with no user adjustable features. That crap about loosing the venturi effect with another hose is not true. Lots of people use the fear of breathing performance to not breathe the long hose. That is just not true. In reality the long hose will act as a surge tank/reservoir. It's the ID (inside diameter) of the hose that you have to be concerned with for perfomance degredation. Hope that answers some of your hose delima..... Have Fun, Scooter Sellers -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
