<I have just purchased a Mares Abyss regulator and requested a long hose. 
<This appeared to be no problem for them as it was supplied to me fitted 
<with a 2 meter length hose which works perfectly.  I cannot understand

<The fact that Mares does not supposedly make seven foot hoses for their
<regulators should tell you something right there. But if you want a seven
<foot hose and have the money I am sure any Mares dealer would find a way to
<get you the product (if cost is of no concern).

I've directly asked Mares for a 7 foot hose for the Abyss and they told me,
that they are only manufacturing 2 and 3 foot hoses without exceptions. I've
also asked them if other hoses could be used and they told me that it is
generally possible, but that you would loose the venturi-effect with a
different hose, leading to much more breathing exercise. I don't know if
that's true, but I don't want to spend that much money for a high-performance
regulator and then noticing afterwareds that it breathes too hard with a long
hose.
