It depends on what you are talking about. In "original" English a meter
is like a gauge or a display whereas a metre is 1000 mm long. However, in
other European languages a metre is a meter is 100 cm, and a meter is
called something else depending on the language.
Still confused? Not after THIS episode of soap.....
