I have noticed that some of my students have been using herbal supplements and I have concerns over the safety of doing so. Some are using performance (mental & metabolic) enhancers and others are using natural diet pills. While I feel that these supplements are doing good for their individual needs I can not help but wonder if any of these could be contradictory or benificial to diving. Has anybody looked into this? I took some time out the other day to investigate this and stopped by some nutritional centers to see what is being commonly used. The staffs had no clue as to how any of the products would act in hyperbaric conditions (as I expected anyway). What I did find out though was that most products had similar main ingredients and both performance and diet enhancers in general share many of the same compounds. Off the top of my head I remember these: (please excuse spelling as I'm working off memory here) -ginsing (many types) -ma huang (ephedrine?) -garlic -guarana (caffine?) -bladderwork -white willow -chromium (various compounds) -uva ursi -cyanne -hawthorne berries -corn silk -catnip -various amino acids -the kitchen sink -various others that I can't remember at this time Thanks in advance, Jeremy -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
