Preface: I do not have all the facts on this one...that is why I am posting this. If you know more, please e-mail me private or public. Fragments of a story are coming in from Hawaii about an incident involving the Drager Atlantis I rebreather. The story so far involves an instructor who was too impatient to get proper training to teach on another rebreather. He instead went to someone from TDI and in one day became an Atlantis 1 rebreather instructor. He then took a student down, left him alone in 25' of water to go back to the surface for reasons currently unknown. Upon returning to the bottom, he found the student unconscious. The student spent three weeks in a coma, continues to improve, but is expected to have permanent residual difficulties. The obvious lawsuit is pending. If anybody knows more please let us know. Obviously this raises a lot of questions, but this is all I have right now. Trout p.s. does anybody know how many law suits are pending against the technical diving taining agencies? Are we going to be able to get insurance next year? -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'.
