He is actually a relatively abundant element.  The helium you buy from air
products is adiabatically removed from air.  I don't believe that the He in
the atmosphere can be accounted for by decay from unstable heavy isotopes
that have ever been present in the earth.  It is much more likely that the
majority of atmospheric He came from cooling intra solar material "as is"
along with the rest of the elemtary makeup up of the earth.  The earth also
recieves a flux of He (along with a variety of other small nuclei,
metastable nuclei fragments, and subatomic particles) from the Sun itself.

You can't make this kind of shit up...
