Dear Techie Types
Thank you for your replies, particularly to those who were constructive!
{;-) To the others it may have clarified the weight problem if I had
added a little background information.
I am 58 and a BSAC member for six years. For the last eight years I have
had M.E. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), but I have diving to thank as an
excellent therapy. It is only by VERY careful management of energy
expenditure (and a stubborn streak!!) that I have reached Advanced diver
and ACI. So ANY weight I can avoid carrying ABOVE water increases my
available energy. I am well aware of the laws of physics as applied to
diving; I just have to rework some of the equations. When diving overseas
I do have to carry my regs - I don't take my weights!
However, having read all your comments and looked at and tried out the
products, I have come down in favour of the robustness of the MK20 first
(normal weight), with the G500 second which is smaller and lighter. I also
found that it gave a lighter cracking resistance.
Thanks again for the advice - Patrick Cannon
