Hi Hal, Sorry I missed you on your visit. I trust everything worked well for you. > Ok, I know I'll catch some flack, but here goes: I'll probably get some flack for my response, but I long ago decided that I want to be honest and open about my mixed-gas diving practices: > Those of you who'll admit to filling Trimix in your garage as well as at > least the O2 portion of the Nitrox fills: > > 1. How many tanks do you use in a cascade system? I've found that by using three helium cylinders, I can drain the first one down to 50-100 psi by the time the third is at the limit of my particular filling pressures (1200-1700 psi) I've found I only 2 O2 cylinders are needed for the nitrox fills (O2 is relatively cheap), but I also use O2 for surface-supplied deco, and for filling my O2 backup pony (1900 psi), so I usually have three at once. > 2. Where did you purchase the tanks and at what cost? I rent the cylinders from the local gas company. He costs about $120 for 303 cu. ft., plus a $100 deposit on the cylider, and about $6 per cylinder per month rental fee. O2 is about $50 for a slightly smaller cylinder, but other costs are identical > 3. What grade O2 do you use? Industrial > 4. Where do you get the He and at what cost? See above.
