Ted, I guess you did not read or believe what I wrote. Let's start
over. Helium is your friend. A few more minutes of deco is better than a
deep air accident. With all due respect, switching gases is not a
problem. I do it all of the time on dives that are far more serious than
anything we are talking about here. Again, a tad more deco is no big
deal, If one can't figure a whole matrix of tables and hold that concept
in one's mind, don't dive, or don't dive on a gas that makes you forget
these things. I have no idea what my final bottom time will be on my
dives. I have a guess, but that is it. I carry a "shape" table only. Gas
divers whould spend some time thinking this stuff out , Ted.

You calculate the deco any way you want - air is too hard to decompress
from ( deep) due to the damage done. Ask yourself how you feel after an
air dive reltive to a gas dive - and then you have your answer. Again,
the "air" tables should look like the helium tables, air tables are BS.

I was told that equipment load is a problem for the boats. Janet Beiser
now tells me this is bullshit. That leaves no excuse for the air divers.

I like Bott's solution myself - well thought out by Bott, and handles
the other big problem we hear of in New England, which is heavy gas
usage due to the cold and current.

Ted, you have a computer and deco programs - work out a few scenarios
and see what I mean. I am just telling you from extensive experience
what I have found to be true. You will see what I mean. It al depends on
what you werer originally taught to believe, and what you perceive the
risks to be. This is clear with me.
