I just found out why many people have not been getting their Deeptrash magazine. Back when TDI was first started, the president promised a first rate quarterly journal that would put the IANTD journal to shame. He promised it would be published regularly and would be the way TDI members would be kept on the cutting edge of the technical diving revolution. All this for only $75 per year annual dues. Well after only two issues in the first two years, it became obvious that being on the cutting edge was not so important after all. At about this time, the president of TDI aquired a large stake in Deeptjunk magazine. He then announced that all TDI instructors would be getting this in place of the promised "wunderjournal". I got three issues and figured "whatever." This ended about six months ago. Well, it turns out that the fact of the matter is, TDI instructors can SUBSCRIBE to Deepscum magazine at a reduced rate, while still paying the $75.00 dues. Those first issues were a gift from TDI. A couple of points: 1. I commented six months ago that even when I was getting Deepgarbage for free that it was overpriced. I am certainly not going to pay money on top of dues to read what has become at best a TDI advertorial and at worst a forum for the president's rants. 2. None of the TDI instructors I talked to was aware they were supposed to be paying a subscription rate. 3. The IANTD journal is professionally published on a regular basis as promised and is include in the members $50.00 dues. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
