5:09 PM OFFICE MEMO Time: Subject: RE:Rash Question 8/19/94 Date: I have received responses from two people and here are thier responses: >Sounds like skin bends to me. > >Off the cuff, with no more information, not that this would >be sufficient in any way to diagnose the disorder. >Hi, >this is an easy one. >The water if FULL of hydozoans (like small medusa) and they can >cause such a rush. >A.T.B. nadav The cause of the rash I was thinking of is LATEX Allergies. The dawning of AIDS has spawned a widespread use of LATEX products (gloves, condoms etc) and it appears that more people are becoming sensitized to the latex, including drysuit seals, rubber mouthpieces, neoprene wetsuits, etc. Do any of you exhibit an itching rash consistently after diving? My wife is unable to do any diving due to her allergic reaction to latex (she is a nurse and now uses non-latex gloves, but latex is EVERYWHERE). Her case is severe enough that her doctor warned her that she may go into anaphelactic (SP?) shock with repeated contact. comments anyone? Steve Hogan Steve_Hogan@qm*.sp*.tr*.co*
