Jim - Another possibility might be a plastic and stainless mouthpiece clip that ScubaPro makes. It is intended to be used to make changing the mouthpiece easier but it is a devil to unlatch. It only fits a standard sized mouthpiece, but it is secure and I have yet to see one break. I have been making links with silicone surgical tubing, fastened to itself with stainless steel hog rings. The hog rings will not break, corrode or come off and the tubing can be cut easily if necessary. The stainless hog rings and pliers necessary to crimp them on are used to make up bungee cords for boat applications. They are available at marine stores that cater to sail boaters. Important to inspect your gear frequently and replace any suspect lines as you go. I hear tell that there are available mini stainless hose clamps used in the avation industry, some cavers in Fla are using them. I was going to surf the web and see if I can find a source.
