I went into our local TDI shop last night to chat with the owner. I talked to him about what if a diver wanted trimix instruction without the deepair crap. He said that the deepair class was basically instruction on air consumption, gas management, gas switching, tables, etc. The trimix part was really easy, and just a short add-on to the deepair class, and he saw no problem with rolling the two classes together and skipping the deepair dives, if that's what the student wants. I guess this shows that the word is out about deepair. He does not hang out on the internet, so he figured this out on his own. I don't know what he teaches insofar as gear config and decom schedules, but I know him and think that he would teach the best way as he knows it rather than the TDI way.
