Either you were being wound up, or he had no idea of what
lenses were like !

A contact lens is _supposed_ to sit on your eye cushioned by 
tears, hence held on/in by suction !!!

Tell your instructor from me that I've been to 40 m + and 
haven't had my lenses surgically removed yet !  (However, it 
came close when I fell asleep in them after a party.... Ouch ! 
:-( I have only ever done that once !
 ).
