I don't know about Lake Superior, but where we are in Lake Michigan federal
budget cuts have put that nice orange and white helicopter more than 30
minutes air time away. That is about what it would take for me to get an
injured diver to the closest port.
Again, I certainly agree with you that a diver should never be left alone in
the water.

white helicopter, gratis Uncle Sam. The boats don't leave the divers in
the water. Why this can't happen in bumfuck lake superior is beyond me.
