This was written by a guy on BIX. He is currently a software geek with Johnson Space Center, in Houston, supporting the Shuttle program. I believe his attitude has application to some of what has been said here in the not-too-distant past about software quality for diving equipment. >The mission of my organization is to preserve human life and the prestige >of our nation in our exploration of space. Our goal (which we have met >with no exception for 20 years) is to deliver man-rated software to NASA >which is failure free and indeed has no detectable faults during any >stated operational profile. > >Try to imagine your organization releasing an application that shows no >sign of significant error in its execution in 20 years. Imagine doing >that roughly 80 times with a standing development team of around 200 >people. Imagine how frustrating it is for me to find 20 or so obvious >bugs in each new release of Microsoft Word. I agree with him. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'.
