EJ, It is important to consider the absolute partial pressure here not simply the mole fraction of the gase. At high ppo2s and long exposures all sorts of unpleasant physiological things start to happen. Vasoconstriction is a natural response of the body to various crises. Cell damage which releases things like nitric oxide and histamines will trigger an immune response. The introduction of snake venom will also trigger localized vasoconstriction. E.J.
