I humbly request opinions on computers from the illustrious members of the tech diver list. Some specifics, or at least wants. I do most of my diving in Monterey. I have recently gotten into the twin realms of diving that requires decompression stops and diving on nitrox. My current computer (Datamax Pro) can't handle the nitrox part--so the need to buy something new. Ideally, I would like a computer that can handle deco stops and account for a different mix for the deco stop. Like maybe diving on 32% with deco on 50% or 80%. I used a Cochran that a friend loaned to me, it seems to have all the capabilities one might want, but traffic on this list makes me wonder about its reliability. It seemed to me to be a bit clumsy for programming the computer. And I wasn't convinced that the display is the best of all possible displays. Another friend has, and swears by, an UWATEC computer. However, while it will let him program different nitrox mixes, it won't account for a different deco mix on the same dive. And then there is the ever popular integrated air or not debate. I sure would appreciate any advice/opinions you may wish to share. Arnie Warshawsky gwaw@ix*.ne*.co* -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
