Actually, yes, my knowledge of diving does lie between my armchair and my aquarium. My aquarium is in storage in America, and my armchir is right next to me, which just happens to be in Japan. Putting the=20 Pacific Ocean between me and my aquarium. And, I have as of yet only dived in the Pacific Ocean. Also, I ask probative questions because I am seeking answers. That=20 is, assuming I haven't lost all ability with the English language living in Japan. (Probative is the past adverb form of probe, right?) Since I am seeking to learn, doesn't that by definition mean I am=20 not a stroke? Isn't a person who refuses to learn, to consider new ideas, to grow beyond themselves more of a stroke? > Despite the fact that the obvious reasons for using an > isolation manifold have been beat to death on cavers and techdiver > allow me to clarify several points for you. OK, maybe I should clairfy my question. I am wondering if the reasoning=20 for using an isolation manifold is not actually Hogarthian. I am not questioning the acual use of an isolation manifold. =20 =20 > The Hogarthian gear configuration, while simultaneously simplifying and > streamlining you and making your diving a safer and more pleasurable > experience is but an underlying component of the WKPP=92s system of "doin= g > it right". =20 This is EXACTLY what I was talking about. Thankyou. Since the Hogarthian system is only one of many compnents of the system you chose to dive, is it not possible that the isolation manifold has become part of your rig because of one of the other components? Once again, since I don't seem to be making myself understood well, it seems to me that there are reasons other than Hogarthain ones for bringing along a piece of equipment. Aditionally, there are times when you bring along a piece of gear that is definately NOT Hogarthian.=20 Take a camera for example. How can a camera possible make a dive=20 safer? Does that mean noone should bring along a camera? Of course not. I am wondering (yes, I used the term wondering, that means I don't know, and am looking for other views. NOT that I am trying to tell=20 anyone anything) if maybe an isolation manifold is similar, if considerations other than Hogarthian ones make it the best choice.
