Randy, The last time that I went on the paddle wheel in the river, it was still intact, with quite alot of artifacts left on it, and in it. I also take it that you have not done alot of diving in Florida either. We do have still have quite alot of true wrecks that are intact ( see my post to the dive shop owner). But yes, the ocean takes its toll on the wreck, right along with the storms that blow in ever other day. But hey, that makes it that much more fun, see if you can find it the next time that you come out to dive it.. GPS is good, but mother nature thinks otherwise. I will agree with you that archeological value of the shipwrecks are quite important. Florida is having the same out look on artifact taking in state waters. You can catch a lota crap from The State with any artifacts taken. Hell I know have been there and done it, and now it is sitting in FSU's archives. Which is good, it will be there for a long time to come, and not on someones mantel for only them to see it. The last that I knew of that the Edmun Fitzgerald was off limits now. Correct me if I am wrong, but once they started salvage work on it, that the family and the state did everything and had it declared closed to everyone, and to let the dead rest in peace? > >later >Randy Sullivan >Sault Ste.
