Here in South Africa we have not had a lot of reason to use scooters in caves. There is however an opportunity to do a dive that to be useful will require scooters. There are a couple of problems. The bulk of the dive will be at 100 mfw plus (330 ffw) and we need to do the dives before November. This means the scooters have to be ex stock and here in SA by Septmber so we can spend a bit of time getting used to them. I would guess that this precludes the WKPP scooters George? Any suggestions ? Could the Oceanic be modified to go beyond the 55 m rating and would it tow a diver with 4 or 5 tanks ? If we look at Farallons or UALs, which model, what type of price, and what kind of lead in time are we looking at ? Locally all that is available is the Oceanic and the Scubapro and I think they would be special orders rather than off the shelf.
