Okay, it's early (ish) in the morning here, but from your equation if 
V gets bigger, then T gets bigger, ie. ** warming**, not cooling.  
For example, when draining compressed gas cylinders, the cylinder 
gets hot due to the expansion of the gas. I would go with the surge 
theory that compressing the air causes condensation.
