Michael,

The Shark List is a email listserver. You sign up for it then every
message each subscriber is re-sent from the server to each subscriber
just like the techdiver list.

I will paste the info for the list in below:
--------------
LISTSERVer Info for SHARK-L: If you do not have a copy of this
information, please save it. SHARK-L is a large list for which the
administrative functions are divided between 1) Fiona Webster (the
listowner), 2) Jeff Kell (our computer guru, who graciously provides
us a home at University of Tennessee), and 3) an automated LISTSERVer.
Most subscription options can be handled by writing to the automated
LISTSERVer, so please read this information carefully before writing
to Fiona or Jeff. If you are experiencing a purely technical problem
such as bouncing mail, write to Jeff Kell <JEFF-KELL@UT*.ED*>.

(Please note that for the purposes of this posting, these two
locations are interchangeable: UTC.EDU and RAVEN.UTC.EDU)

Sharks and Cartilaginous Fish Discussion

SHARK-L is a general-interest forum for discussions about sharks (and
other cartilaginous fishes, such as skates, rays, chimaeras). Topics
on SHARK-L include shark biology, behavior and evolution, stories
about diving with sharks, sharks in the media, shark folklore, sharks'
relationship with human beings, shark conservation efforts, and
resources for shark aficionados. SHARK-L is an informal,
conversational list for both lay people and scientists. If you want to
talk about sharks, SHARK-L is the place to be!

To subscribe to SHARK-L, send a message to
LISTSERV@UT*.ED* and put the following in the
body of the message:

SUBSCRIBE SHARK-L Your Name

To unsubscribe:

SIGNOFF SHARK-L

Important! Be sure than when you unsubscribe, you are mailing your
message from the same e-mail account as your subscription.

To change the address for your SHARK-L subscription, 1) unsubscribe
from your old account, and 2) resubscribe from your new account.

To set up some commonly requested options:

SET SHARK-L DIGEST [receive digest version]
SET SHARK-L NODIGEST (turn off digest version)
SET SHARK-L REPRO [get copies of your own postings]
SET SHARK-L NOREPRO [cancel copies of your own postings]
SET SHARK-L NOMAIL [to cancel mail when you're away]
SET SHARK-L MAIL [to turn mail back on]

Archives for SHARK-L, including a search engine, are available at

http://raven.utc.edu/archives/shark-l.html

You can also get archives for the list by writing to LISTSERV@UT*.ED*
and putting the following in the body of your message:

INDEX SHARK-L

This will give you a list of available archive files.

The archive files are stored monthly as SHARK-L LOGyymm --
where yy = year, and mm = month. To retrieve a specific archive file
send

GET SHARK-L LOGyymm

to the LISTSERVer.

In the future, we will have a search engine for the archives.

The listowner of SHARK-L is Fiona Webster <fi@oc*.co*>

Her shark website (with lots of links) is at
