Very sensible - not - redundancy and extra gas is never a bad idea - =
people who want to overstay will overstay - at least if they have =
problems or use too much gas they have some redundant supply......the =
days of single cylinder diving for most ranges (including standard =
Sports) is fading - no one is saying use twin 18L which is for long =
stays - smaller twins are sensible for sport diving.

The reason from PADI if current is a bit dated and needs review.=20

PADI doesn't recommend twin tanks because you might overstay your
no-decompression limits.
