Hi All, With all this talk about stage bottle location I figured I'd post a question. If some of the "lurkers" on the list are like me then this information will be of value to them as well. Almost all of my diving is ocean wreck diving. Depending upon the depth I'll either have AIR or a hotter mix in my main tank. I also dive with a pony and a stage. This question isn't about the proper mix in either the main or stage tanks. The orientation I've been using is a single 120 with a pony on my right. I have a D-ring on the bottom of the pony(40 cube, right side) and another on my 120, but on the left side. Since I've been using a stage and carrying it along with me I've been clipping the back of the stage to the bottom of the pony(right side) and the ring around the valve to a set of D-rings on my BC. Underwater the setup seems to work well and I don't notice I have the stage with me. The difficult part is when I'm getting ready on the boat. In addition the orientation of the tank can be difficult when I'm clipping it to the equipment line I drop from the boat. Usually for this I'll swim to the line, unclip the top of the tank and re-clip it to the equipment line. Once secure I'll reach behind with my right hand and unclip the stage from my pony. I've only been diving for a few weeks with this setup so I'm not too attached to the configuration. Before this I used to bring an 80 down, tie it into the wreck near the anchor and secure my wreck line to (or near) the tank. This way I would always be able to get back to my stage. This worked well except during the hang where in rough water the 80 was difficult to control. Anyway, I'm always open to suggestions, any takers? Someone has already suggested slinging the tank across my lap. Securing both ends of the bottle to either my weight belt or BC. Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll get some good suggestions.
