>Sheck in Mexico. When I spoke with him last (January this year), he >seemed extremely satisfied with it, and told me it worked fine for him >down to 700 or 800 feet. I don't know whether or not Sheck was also using >one, or if they were using them at the time of the accident. What happened deeper than 800' - did it become very hard to breathe or did he use a different reg??? According to a conversation that I had with someone at the end of April, Sheck did not use the D400. I don't know what he did use, but they (the D400's) had just arrived and he did not feel comfortable using a regulator he wasn't used to. Does anyone know what he was using? I've had an Odin now for a short period of time. Sometime in the near future, when I switch to dual independant tanks, it will become one of the two primaries. Until then, it sits on my pony and I try it out for a short periods every dive, at various depths. Originally, it free flowed like crazy and chattered badly at any depth less than 70' or so. After having it tuned up once, it still chatters a little at 30' or less if it's on the +, but breathing on the - setting isn't overly exerting at these depths. Anywhere from 50' on down, I've noticed that this regulator wants to *feed* you air, it feels like it almost takes effort to *stop* it from feeding it to you. This regulator defintely seems to breath a little wetter than my USD SEA which, IMO, has been a very good regulator, even at depth. I've been waiting for a D400 now for quite some time (since the middle of May). The shop that I'm getting it from always says its expected but it never seems to show up. Are the D400's (with the new HP seat) readily available??? -Carl-
