This weekend we did a little longer dive on the Halcyon rebreathers. JJ and I did 100 minutes at 285-300, and through five hours of the deco on three gas switches, before going to oxygen on open circuit. The machines allowed us to explore a region of Wakulla that had previously been logisticly challenging : a room 200X600 , 6400 feet back in the deepest section. We were able to survey around the perimeter, and establish that we had already explored five of the six tunnels leading off of it, and were mot missing anything, while at the same time placing safety bottles for our next dive, and accomplishing some other objectives, all on 65 cubic feet of gas. On Sunday, Brent, JJ and I did another 4800 foot dive out K Tunnel and poked a few leads while running the machines on their back-up systems. Obviously, the Friday dive was the longest, deepest cave dive ever done with a rebreather anywhere. For next Friday's dive I have a lot to do to get ready: repack my scrubber and refill my stage bottle. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
