It is in my opinion the most reliable and easy breathing 2nd stage on the market! although I have not used the G500, after looking at the inhilation vacuum and exhaust pressure specs, there should be almost no noticeable difference between the two in breathing charicteristics. As a general rule of thumb, I never by new models the first year that they are introduced. Often there seem to be glitches in the first year; this is true whether a car, diving equipment or military hardware. If your going to buy this year, get a MK20-G250. If your going to wait till next year, ask people what they think and make your own decision. Finally, remember the first stage is as important as the second stage for technical diving. It is the first stage that will limit how many cubic feet of air you can get per second when you are in two or three hundred feet of water. The second stage only controls how hard you will have to suck to get the air to flow.
