New Milestone: I am pleased to announce that Northern Maritime Research's NORTHERN SHIPWRECKS DATABASE has reached the new milestone of 65,000+ records... and I am 2 days from producing the 1997 version on CD-ROM. Expansion: While the previous emphasis was placed on North American vessel casualties between the 40th degree north latitude and the North Pole, this area is slowly being expanded to encompass the entire North American continent. Search Options: This `freestanding' system can be searched by a choice of 12 options including NAME of vessel, YEAR/DATE of loss, Official number, AREA of loss (general and specific), COORDINATES, place built, builder, port of registry, owner, captain/master, etc. Each record lists references used. 1997 CD-ROM Version: In the near future (hopefully only a few weeks) copies of this database will be publicly available on CD-ROM for the first time. To receive info. about acquiring a copy of this CD, forward your MAILING ADDRESS by e-mail. More information can be found on my www site listed in the signature block below.
